About Osteopathy

What Is Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a form of healthcare that focuses on diagnosing, treating, and preventing problems with muscles, joints, and the body’s structure. Osteopaths use gentle, hands-on techniques to relieve pain, improve movement, and support your overall wellbeing.

How does osteopathy work?

Osteopaths look at how your body moves and functions as a whole. By using techniques like soft tissue massage, gentle stretching, and joint mobilization, osteopathy helps reduce pain, ease tension, and restore natural movement—so you can feel and function better.

Is Osteopathy Safe?

Yes. Osteopathy is a safe, regulated healthcare profession in the UK. All osteopaths are registered with the General Osteopathic Council and follow strict professional standards. Treatments are always tailored to your individual needs and comfort.

Will I need to undress for my Osteopathy appointment?

You may be asked to remove some outer clothing so your osteopath can assess and treat the area comfortably. You’re welcome to wear loose-fitting clothes or shorts and a vest—your comfort and dignity are always a priority.

Is Osteopathy Suitable for Children and Babies?

Absolutely—gentle osteopathic techniques, such as cranial osteopathy, are suitable for all ages, including newborns.

Can osteopathy help with more than just back pain?

Absolutely. Osteopathy can help with a wide range of issues, including neck and shoulder pain, joint stiffness, headaches related to muscle tension, sports injuries, arthritis, and even support for babies and children.
